The word "chiropractic" comes from two Greek words "chiro", (from the Greek "cheir" meaning "hand") and "practic" (from the Greek "pratten" meaning "to do"). At its essence, chiropractic means to do by hand. Adjustments are made to the spine and sometimes the other joints of the body in order to relieve pressure on the nerves in order to help them function at an optimal level, thus helping your body to repair and heal itself.

While the spinal adjustment is the main way that a chiropractor helps relieve pain and restore health, many chiropractors also use physical therapy, nutrition, exercise, acupuncture and many other adjunctive or supportive methods to help people.
